Proverbs 27:17

'As iron sharpens iron,
so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.'

This very verse is the ultimate reflection of what a genuine friendship is. The length of time that you've known your friend is nugatory. It is the quality of the friendship itself that gives such significant impact upon your life. To keep sharpen one's countenance is another term for expressing confrontation and conviction- it's accountability.

My lovely reader, if you desire to attain a life-long friendship ..it's pivotal for the existence of accountability. For any relationship in fact, it is a necessity to keep each other accountable. As our human nature has limitations, one of these is obliviousness. Obliviousness ultimately leads to actions that appear, through our own perspective, to be subconscious. Why am I telling you this? It is because of societal perspectives and interpretations of what friendship is, is superficial. It disgusts me. As much as you can say, 'hey b*****' and exchange insults to each other isn't necessarily the best friendship an individual can possess.

Our society attends to failure into taking notification of the substance a relationship must contain. Thus, I am more than blessed to have a bestfriend who's heart is so lost in God's that if any guy were to try to get to her. They must go through me, firstly His heart though. Inevitably, change does occur but when one observes that this change isn't always of the finer that's when conviction is released. This I have experienced only today. It is only today that this realisation of an accumulation of prideful nature within myself was notified by my bestfriend. What was said cut deep and brought harsh conviction but it was good. More than good. It did me change and a fresh breath of life was breathed into me.

Picture this: in order for a plant to grow healthier and stronger, one must prune it. So it goes the same for the people in any type of relationship. You prune each other in order for growth in strength and character.
